Course Overview

This course prepares you for the APMG Change Management Foundation Exam. You will learn good practise models to deliver effective change within your workplace, including approaches to achieve buy-in and handle continuous change.

As a certified Change Management Practitioner, you will demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in managing change within your organisation, including how people deal with change, the different types of organisational change, and how to work with stakeholders during a change initiative.

This course is valuable for individuals wishing to achieve the APMG Change Management Certification. Anyone who must interact effectively with others to facilitate or direct change will find this course useful.

• Apply Kelman’s three levels of adoption
• Define simple and/or chaotic change
• Understand planned change versus emergent change
• Use systems thinking to better understand and manage change
• Apply force field analysis to better understand and manage organizational context
• Utilise co-design for effective change
• Kotter’s change management approach and using the Volunteer Army
• Apply structured approaches such as ADKAR and the Change Management Cycle
• Appreciate the benefits of using an Agile approach

People and Change

• Appreciate and understand human responses to change
• Understand the link between neuroscience and change management
• Utilise the change curve
• Understanding Bridges States of Transition
• Lead the change journey
• Understand motivations and drives affecting change
• Appreciate and manage the impact of survival and learning anxiety
• Recognise different learning styles and how to integrate them into change projects

Change Leadership and Teams

• Identify and understand key roles in managing change including Change Sponsor and Change Agent
• Create psychological safety during change
• Influence and lead change at all levels within organizational culture
• Create, build and develop change teams
• Harvest the value of team diversity

Stakeholders and Communications

• Identify and define stakeholders
• Use stakeholder analysis techniques
• Use stakeholders’ levels of power and stakeholder mapping techniques

The Work of the Change Manager

• Assess change impacts and change impact severity
• Identify, understand, and manage resistance to change
• Measure and analyse the effectiveness and benefits of change interventions
• Build a change analytics strategy

Developing Professional Change Practice

• Apply key principles to define what needs to be learned by those involved in a change initiative
• Understand how to provide effective developmental feedback to support others through change
• Apply coaching principles when supporting change leaders at every level
• Demonstrate how to recognise and deal with sources of conflict during change

COURSE PREREQUISITES

Recommended Experience
• Previous change management experience is helpful but not required.

Foundation Exam: Day 4
• Completing the necessary APMG paperwork

Practitioner Exam: Taken remotely post course
